ASUU STRIKE: BANK WORKERS THREATEN NATIONWIDE SHUTDOWN AFTER NLC

The National Union of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions Employees NUBIFIE, have disclosed that it will join the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in its solidarity strike with ASUU union over strike that had lingered for over five months now.

The NUBIFIE stated this in a statement issued out by Its National President, Mr Anthony Abakpa, and General Secretary, Mr Mohammed Sheikh, on Sunday, 17th of July, 2022.

The union has disclosed that if nothing is done a day after the NLC protest, the union will go in solidarity with the ASUU union.

The statement reads partly, “However, if after the one-day protest by NLC on this issue and nothing is done, the union will have no other option than to call out all our members in banks, insurance and other financial institutions in solidarity with ASUU.“ it said

The union had faulted the federal government over fail promises on meeting ASUU demands in the aspect of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between the duo.
