The Jigawa state chapter of the Correspondent Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists has presented an award to the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse, Prof. Abdulakarim Sabo Mohammed as the champion of Digital Transformation of FUD.


The award presentation which was part of a Public Lecture in honor of late Chairman of the Correspondent Chapel ,Ahmed Abubàkar took place at the Ahmadu Bello hall of the state secretariat, Dutse.


The Deputy Governor ofJigawa state ,Alhaji Umar Namadi who presented the award to the VC said Journalists are the eyes and ears of every society and for them to recognised the achievement of the VC in the area of ICT, it means the VC has done a lot. He congratulated the VC for the award.

The VC in his remark thanked the Journalists for the recognition adding that his effort to digitalise the activities of the university is just the begining. He said in the next few years he intends to deepened the internet connectivity of the university and make the entire system paperless.


It would be recalled that one of the projects embarked upon by the VC as soon as he took over was the installation of 45 megabyte per second Internet broadband in the university which has made wireless service to staff and students easy.


This is in addition to the investment in e-leaning platforms and procurement of e-resources for online and offline use of staff and students in the library.


The VC also resolved the perennial problem of university portal by developing a new staff and students friendly result portal which enables students to use their moblie phones to access their result while staff payment slip which can now be checked and downloaded online among others.
