Young Governorship Aspirant Speaks On ASUU Strike, Calls On Nigerians To Make Donations to ASUU.

A young Abia State governorship aspirant, Ochulor Christian Uchechukwu, has called on all Nigerians to make monetary donation to the Academic Staff Union of Universities to fund varsities, among others.

Ochulor, who made this known via a statement shared on his social media handle, said that both the Federal Government and the striking academic union “have failed the system and are gradually killing education in Nigeria.”

He wrote:

“Occasionally we see this obnoxious event take the center stage in our tertiary institutions and it lingers for months without and results or resolution that puts an end to it, thus putting students who gained admission in public schools or who intend to in mayhem as no one is guaranteed of graduating as at when due as stated in his/ her admission letter.

How long do we continue like this?

“I am not here to blame the government or the union as the both parties have failed the system and are gradually killing education in Nigeria.

I want to use this medium to call on all well meaning Nigerians to step in and put a stop to this.

I am calling on all political aspirant irrespective of your party,

Am calling on all philanthropist,

Am calling on all Nigerian celebrities ranging from music, comedy and movie industry,

Am calling on Heads of business and members of different BOT of different banks and organizations here in Nigeria.

“The child you have refused to train today will be the terror that will torment your children tomorrow. So many students who you have denied access to school are embracing social vices and the more they remain at home idle, the more the rise in the crescendo of vices.

“This is a clarion call to all Nigerians to make donations to ASUU and all other union in the educational sector so that our children, your children can go back to the classroom…..” statement partly reads.
