In Nigeria,
Education Is ascribed to nothing but pain
Mentally, financially, physically and a lot more
Its sad to say despite the years spent In school
We insist not to change it for the younger generation
We seem to forget the world is evolving
There’s so much online investment scheme
I, as a student wouldn’t go through such just for a papered certificate

Education is unfortunately a barrier to greatness however small in Nigeria. We have firms that make the working class cycle off limits for fresh graduates. How, if you may ask, is requiring a job experience of 2-5years. How is that possible? This criteria is unfavorable for excellent youth to talk more of the good ones. Education is now something we earn for paper’s sake and title. Many don’t even use it and you put yourself through so much stress just to earn that. Many venture into other things such as business, skill acquisition, online skills to making earnings. You could earn that in your house without the overly emphasized stress and deadlines. This shows how poor the system is and only hunts the future of the country.
Education is a western knowledge, fact and idea learned from cradle to tertiary institutes which is dictionary defined just so a degree, doctorate or even lower case certificates is awarded at the end of the program. Education is education at the end of every program as it should be. It can be formal, informal and even out of the educational system. Learning continues till man drops dead. In terms of lower case certificates holders who studied in polytechnic, recognizes private institutes such as HND and NCE . I have a question or two for the holders, why go back to universities to earn higher yet irrelevant in most cases!
They are only privileges to make use of the skills learnt through-out their polytechnic or higher educational days. It is understandable that a higher degree is validated to create favorability in the market. Does this qualify your potential ? Yes, on certain conditions but when It comes to handy skills then a second or higher degree relating to nothing of that skill is a waste. Improve on your skills instead of venturing into papered documents with no value.
Polytechnic give rise to practiced skills which at the end of the day serves such an individual. I feel a lot of people forward their education to get validity in the market of skills and honor. In having skills, it reduces the congestion of the labor market by creating a job avenue. This doesn’t mean furthering education is bad but it must be progressive. It is a well known factor that “the old now goes to school to either further their education or opt for a second degree. This however would have been a great offer if only more jobs were in the labor market. The labor market also raises the criteria of securing a job yearly if not immediately. Hence, this is not possible for a 20-25year old individual to make it successfully with all the requirements such as a masters degree and the likes.

Why must education be expensive?
Education is expensive yet necessary and essential. Nobody wants to be seen as uneducated in this modern society. Being educated is a plus to once life profile yet it doesn’t mean we are all civilized. Being civilized is different from being educated. Education should be developmental. Education is basic and should be affordable. Education has no age limit gender limitation either should it be a competition. It should about improving. However small, you need basic skills and common sense to navigate through life, implementation is very necessary.
For curiosity’s sake, how do you expect a 16years who got admitted 4-5years ago have enough money to even afford a masters program without some form of livelihood. This is saddening cause jobs are scarce and education isn’t free non ultimately affordable.

For a piece of paper I have had sleepless nights
Of a things I don’t understand even after attending classes which lasted for hours
All through I could be sleeping or having some youtube class instead
I don’t know what the younger generation should expect
You will grow, evolve, cry, pass, fail but I need you to diversify
Don’t make your life a piece of you
Be original and you will just be fine
Education shouldn’t define your success
Unfortunately it is in Nigeria
Unfortunately you will go through the system
And older ones will tell you that is school just like I told my younger sis
Education will tire you out and make you worry about Monday when its just Friday
It will make you restless accompanied with irrelevant courses
It will make you wonder if everyone is going through this phase or its just you
On some days, it feels like you have gotten a hold of it
On other days you don’t know how it slipped or if you ever even had a grip of it
It will worry you if 5.0 CGPA exist at all or it was bought through the easy way
Or the bought by the superficial minds
Be humble, God is with you with dearie
I need you to calm your nerves and go through the system
While you still worry from the past experiences
Be proud of yourself even with a C in your results

I need you to push through cause even after graduating I still don’t understand
However small you must wake up bright and healthy
Strong and positive, it wont change overnight neither will it change for you
I still don’t understand why we have educationist but the system hasn’t changed
I still don’t understand why we have articles upon articles upon articles
Without getting through it with a solution
You are the solution to yourself dearie
Its okay to beat yourself but promise to never beat yourself down
Education will tire you out by my dear you will be fine
At the end of the day I hope your dreams come through
I hope you don’t take the wrong step and graduate with just a relief
You’re done but ain’t proud of it
Be sure to know your dreams are valid and just like every successful human being you will excel.

Education issues should be a relief as soon as possible cause the longer it takes, it delays the bright minds from getting there. Education is to acquire knowledge. It should be fulfilling and progressive.
